    Good to know

Biodegradability refers to the ability of a substance to break down and decompose naturally into simpler compounds such as carbon dioxide, water and biomass through the action of micro-organisms without leaving any toxicity behind.

An industrially compostable product is composted by the waste management industry using a precisely defined, technical process and within a specified period of time.

If a product is (home) compostable, the packaging materials will decompose on the household compost heap under the conditions that commonly prevail there.

Compostable material is automatically considered biodegradable.

If a product is recyclable, it is fed into the respective recycling cycle and used to produce raw material again.
